Shots fired, Highland Park

Police are investigating after a firearm was discharged in the backyard of a Highland Park address in the early hours of this morning, Queensland Police say.

Around 1.15am, police were called to an address on Renfrew Drive after residents in the street heard a number of gun shots.

On arrival, police located three spent rounds and one unspent round, believed to have come from a shotgun.

Preliminary investigations suggest that while a gathering was taking place at the house, four people attended the address in a vehicle, described as being a Ford Focus or similar vehicle.

One of the occupants exited the vehicle and entered the backyard of the address, discharging three rounds.

No one was injured as a result of the discharged firearm.

Two men sustained minor injuries after confronting the occupants of the vehicle and attempting to punch the driver’s window and rear window. They were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle involved fled the scene at high speed.

Police are appealing to anyone in the Highland Park and surrounding suburbs who may have any CCTV or dashcam footage of interest to contact them immediately. Police would also like to speak with anyone who has any information in relation to the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
