Yesterday, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, met with Han-Koo Yeo, the Republic of Korea's Minister of Trade, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministerial Meeting in Korea.
As our eighth largest trading partner, Canada looks forward to continue growing our commercial relations and diversifying trade with Korea, which for bilateral goods and services reached $25.4 billion in 2024. Minister Sidhu and Minister Yeo spoke about continuing to increase trade flows through the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement, under which bilateral trade has already doubled since its entry into force 10 years ago.
Minister Sidhu reiterated Canada's commitment to working closely with Korea to identify further collaboration opportunities in key sectors such as energy, critical minerals, defence industrial cooperation, and agri-food products.
