Silent disco planned for young people in Devonport

Devonport young people will be given the opportunity to shake off the winter blues and get their dancing shoes on at a Silent Disco organised by the Devonport City Council.

The disco will be held at the Devonport Recreation Centre on Thursday 15 August from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

It is for those aged between 12 and 17 and tickets cost $5 each.

The disco will be a drug and alcohol-free event with security present and bags will be checked on arrival.

Mayor Annette Rockliff said Council was aware of the shortage of activities for young people, particularly over the winter months.

"This is a great opportunity for younger members of our community to get out and socialise as well as listening to their favourite music," she said.

"I am told the sickest tunes will be coming through the headphones and I understand that is a good thing!

"So, I would encourage all young people to get their parents to purchase a ticket to this sweet event."

Tickets can be purchased through www.devonporttickets.com.au
