Silent Labor: More Taxes, Less Services in Hoax

Liberal Party Victoria

The Allan Labor Government's emergency tax is a fraud - taking more and giving less - and it refuses to answer key questions on damning detail in the State Budget.

Premier Jacinta Allan today in Parliament dodged questions on her false claims that every cent from the tax will go towards boosting emergency services.

Budget papers show the new tax will raise an additional $600 million in the next financial year, but money to our emergency services is actually being cut.

Damningly, the budget reveals 'emergency services capability output' will reduce by $203 million in the same period.

While the new tax collects significantly more, it is clear the additional revenue isn't going to where it needs to support our emergency services.

Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Danny O'Brien, said clearly this is a revenue measure, not one to support our frontline emergency services.

"Labor is taxing more and giving less to emergency services.

"If the Premier was true to her word that every cent was going to emergency services, we would not be talking about a $203 million reduction in funding for the emergency services output.

"Surely the output should be rising, not reducing. This is just another hit to hardworking Victorians, some of which are having to pay double or triple under the new tax.

"Labor can't manage money and Victorians are paying the price."
