Single-vehicle fatal crash north of Tamworth

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's north overnight.

About 8.15pm (Sunday 5 June 2022), emergency services were called to Long Arm Road at Borah Creek, about 80kms north of Tamworth, after reports of a crash.

Police have been told a Toyota Hilux utility had been driving through a nearby private property on Mulwarree Road, when it crashed and rolled before travelling back towards Gunnedah.

A male passenger was treated by paramedics; however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver, a 26-year-old man and a second passenger, aged 18, were uninjured. The driver was taken to Barraba Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced, anyone with information is urged to contact police.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
