Single Vehicle Fatality- Acton Road at Acton, TAS

At 1.20pm on Thursday 30 November 2017, police were alerted to a single vehicle crash on Acton Road at Acton.  The crash involved a black Holden flat tray utility, Tasmania Police say.

The utility was being driven in a northerly direction by a 60 year old Warrane man.  On a straight section of road the vehicle has veered off the bitumen road surface onto a gravel and grass verge and then through a wire fence coming to rest against a number of trees.

The driver was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital by road ambulance, where sadly he later died.  It is suspected the driver suffered a medical episode immediately prior to and at the time of the crash. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 36 year old man from Midway Point, wasn’t injured.

Police would like to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed the incident.  Information can be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers.
