City of Canada Bay Council can kick start plans with $108,000 in funding support from the NSW Government to upgrade Sisters Bay sea wall in Drummoyne.
Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock said the funding, as part of the NSW Government's Coastal and Estuary Grants Program, assists council in understanding and protecting their local coastal environment.
"We know Sisters Bay is an important destination on the popular Bay Run for locals and visitors alike so this funding will support the City of Canada Bay Council's upcoming plans to investigate and design the upgrade of the existing foreshore sea wall," Mrs Hancock said.
"It will develop a concept design for the renewal of the existing seawall along the foreshore and any new sections that may be needed.
"This design work is the final step before implementation works can begin, to establish continuous foreshore protection in the future.
"Our Coastal and Estuary Grants Program supports local councils to understand the complex coastal and estuarine environment, and ensure our enviable coastlines are protected now and into the future.
"The aim of the program is to increase the resilience of coastal communities and implement actions that improve the health of NSW coastal environment and estuaries."
Last year, the NSW Government increased its funding ratio for planning grants, providing $2 for every $1 from council.
