Six arrested, charged after shooting, NSW

Six people have been charged after two men sustained gunshot wounds following a public place shooting in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Mackay and Bennett Road, South Granville, shortly before 1pm on Tuesday 19 June 2018, after reports a group of men were fighting.

The group had left the scene prior to police arrival.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

A short time later, a 24-year-old man presented at Auburn Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his arm, where police were notified.

The wounded man and three other men were arrested at Auburn Hospital about 1.30pm. The wounded man was transported to Westmead Hospital and the others taken to Granville Police Station where all four men were charged.

A number of charges were laid including discharge firearm with intent and affray.

The three men at Granville Police Station were granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 17 July 2018.

The 24-year-old man in hospital was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 26 June 2018.

In the afternoon of Wednesday 20 June 2018, police arrested a further two men, aged 23 and 24, at a home on The Avenue, Granville. The 24-year-old was taken to Granville Police Station.

The 23-year-old man had a gunshot wound to his right leg and was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment before being taken to Granville Police Station.

A warrant was executed at the home and police allege a number of items were seized, including a small amount of steroids, knuckle dusters and a flick knife.

Both men were charged with shoot at with intent to murder, affray, fire firearm in or near public place, possess firearm in a public place and conceal serious indictable offence of another. Both men are refused bail and due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 21 June 2018).
