Sixth person charged after investigations into fatal crash at Albion Park Rail

A woman has now been charged following investigations by Lake Illawarra detectives into the fatal crash at Albion Park Rail earlier this year.

The 22-year-old woman is alleged to have been linked to those previously charged over the collision that killed a 25-year-old man and left three others with serious injuries when a Ford Territory struck a petrol tanker in the early hours of Saturday 18 May 2018 at Albion Park Rail.

Strike Force Warrane, comprising detectives from Lake Illawarra Police District, was formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Shortly after 11am yesterday (Monday 8 July 2019), detectives attended a home in Haywards Bay where the 22-year-old woman was arrested after a short police operation.

She was taken into police custody and conveyed to Lake Illawarra Police Station where she was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.

She was refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 9 July 2019).

She is the sixth person to be charged over the incident.
