Smash and grab at high end store in CBD

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a high-end designer store shop front was smashed during a burglary in Melbourne this morning.

Police have been told a black SUV reversed into the Collins Street store about 3.40am.

The vehicle was then seen to drive out of the store, turn around and drive forward into the shop.

It's understood two men then got out of the SUV and entered the store through the smashed glass window; before they made off with a number of items.

The men involved are both perceived to be Caucasian in appearance with one man described as wearing a black hat and top and the other described as wearing a face covering.

A crime scene has been set up while investigators work to establish the value and description of what has been taken from the store which is believed to stock items such as handbags, shoes, accessories, jewellery and fragrances.
