Some drivers never learn

Things went from bad to worse for a learner driver who was intercepted in Morwell this evening for driving without lights, Victoria Police say.

Latrobe Highway Patrol members were conducting routine duties on Mid Valley Road about 8pm when they intercepted a red Holden Commodore sedan.

A man in the front passenger seat ran from the car when it pulled over, leaving the learner driver on her own.

The 21-year-old woman from Yallourn North was unable to provide police with her passenger’s name.

Police inspected the car and noticed there were no ‘L’ plates or number plates displayed.

A preliminary oral fluid test was conducted and the driver was asked to accompany police for an oral fluid test.

The woman refused to accompany police.

She is expected to be charged on summons with refusing to accompany for an oral fluid test, using an unregistered car, failing to display L plates, learner driver drive without experienced driver and fail to have headlamps on at night.
