Sometimes you can only ask "Seriously?"

Greensborough Highway Patrol officers were left in disbelief following the speeds reached by a driver in Thomastown this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Police first observed the Ford XR sedan travelling north on Dalton Road, between Wood Street and Settlement Street, at 94 km/h in a 60 km/h zone at about 1.20pm.

The patrol officers attempted to intercept the vehicle which exited onto the Metro Ring Road.

Several attempts to intercept the vehicle were unsuccessful as the car reached speeds of 202km/h.

The vehicle was finally stopped just prior to the Edgars Road exit.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost for the driver of $884

A 23-year-old Lalor man is expected to be charged with exceed speed limit, speed dangerous, manner dangerous, evade police, drive unlawfully in an emergency lane, drive whilst suspended and use unregistered vehicle.
