South Australia coronovirus update as at 16 April 2020

One person has today tested positive for COVID-19. There has now been a total of 434 cases in South Australia.

Today's case is a person in their 40s. To date, 308 people have been cleared of COVID-19.

There have been four reported deaths in SA from COVID-19.

Two people are currently in intensive care at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. A 68-year-old man is in a critical condition while a 77-year-old man is stable.

SA Pathology has undertaken more than 38,000 tests for COVID-19 so far.

From today, any South Australian who has a fever or respiratory symptoms consistent with COVID-19, no matter how mild, is encouraged to attend a COVID-19 clinic or their GP, for assessment and testing.

The testing blitz will last for two weeks and will give symptomatic South Australians the reassurance they are not infected, while also providing public health clinicians greater understanding of the prevalence of the virus within the state.
