Speeding teen in Mooroopna

A Mooroopna teen will face charges after allegedly travelling at 200km/h in a 100km/h zone in Mooroopna yesterday.

Police intercepted the 18-year-old woman driving south on Echuca Road following information from the public in relation to her alleged driving conduct about 7.45pm.

Officers spotted two 18-year-old female passengers, in the white Toyota Avalon sedan, in breach of the drivers P1 probationary passenger restriction.

Further investigation revealed the driver, who had only had her licence for 20 days, had been travelling at 180km/h and had videoed and shared the event.

Subsequently, the Wyuna woman was arrested and her mobile phone was seized.

After viewing the video, which showed the vehicle hit a speed of 200km/h, the woman was interviewed for reckless conduct endangering person and other driving related matters.

She was released pending summons.
