Speeding truck driver charged with drug offences at Goulburn

A speeding truck driver pulled over by police on the Hume Highway near Goulburn overnight has been found to be under the influence of drugs.

About 10.20pm Thursday, a 45-year-old was clocked driving B-double truck at 120km/h while restricted to a maximum speed of 100km/h due to the class of vehicle.

He was given a roadside drug test, which returned a positive reading, and a search of the vehicle allegedly located 9.6grams of amphetamine.

The Queensland man was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with deemed supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug and self administer prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court on Friday.
