Hume City Council has joined Cricket Victoria, Football Australia and Football Victoria in calling for a $6 million government contribution towards the Ellscott Boulevard Recreation Reserve Development in Mickleham.

The proposed 9.5-hectare reserve will deliver sporting fields, a pavilion, change rooms, community spaces, lighting, a playspace, pathways and public amenities, supporting one of Victoria's fastest-growing communities.

Hume City Council has committed $20 million to the project and is seeking a further $6 million from the Victorian Government to help deliver the reserve.

The development will provide increased opportunities for people of all ages to participate in sport and recreation, while supporting community wellbeing, social connection and active lifestyles.

Cricket Victoria is supporting the advocacy campaign, recognising the growing demand for quality sporting infrastructure across Melbourne's north.

Hume City Mayor, Cr Carly Moore said:

"Mickleham is one of Victoria's fastest-growing communities and it is critical that investment in community infrastructure keeps pace with that growth."

"The Ellscott Boulevard Recreation Reserve Development will deliver vital sporting and recreation facilities for local families, creating a vibrant community hub where people can connect, participate and lead healthy, active lives."
