Sports Are Back On At Banksia Reserve

We've completed the Banksia Reserve renewal in time for the summer sports season.

The much-needed upgrade has greatly improved the sportsground's surface integrity. We've updated the drainage and irrigation, levelled the ground, laid sun and heat-resistant turf, and upgraded the perimeter fencing.

The new turf pitch is ready for cricket season and the upgraded AFL goal posts are ready for the reserve's winter sports.

The upgrade is part of our commitment to improve the quality and sustainability of Bayside's sports and recreation infrastructure to help to meet the increasing need for community sport and recreation facilities.

The secure dog-off leash area will remain in the reserve, with some minor improvements expected over the next few months. This gives dog owners the choice between the renewed sportsground (when not being used by community sport), or the fenced exercise area. Council will monitor the sportsground condition and assess the impact of the alternative off-leash exercise area. This information will help to determine whether it should remain as a permanent feature.
