Staff, customer detain teen in tobacco shop during armed robbery - Condell Park

Police have arrested a teenager who was detained by staff and a customer during an armed robbery in Sydney's west today.

Just before 5.40pm (Wednesday 7 October 2020), police were called to a tobacco shop on Simmat Avenue, Condell Park, following reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told a male – armed with a knife – entered the store, before threatening two staff members and demanding cash.

The employees and a customer managed to run outside, while holding the door to the shop closed.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and found a 16-year-old boy being held inside.

He was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

A knife was also seized at the scene.

Inquiries are continuing.
