Works to set up and prepare for the construction of the Byron Bay Bypass will begin at Butler Street next week.
From Monday 15 July, Byron Shire Council will be handing over possession of the Bypass construction zone to the appointed project contractors Hazell Bros.
"Butler Street will remain open to two-way traffic at all times, and there should be minimal disruption to motorists," Project Engineer Josh Winter said.
"The project will be delivered in four stages. Stage 1 will include the area from the Byron Street drain to Glen Villa Resort."
"Council is also currently working towards delivering the noise mitigation works to affected private properties, and we are thankful the community are working with us on this important aspect of the bypass project" Mr Winter said.

Stage 1 is due to be completed by Christmas this year. Weather permitting, the Bypass project will be delivered before the end of 2020.
This project has been made possible through funding from the NSW Government including the Restart NSW Growing Local Economies Fund.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro welcomed the start of works, saying the dedicated bypass will help keep through-traffic moving and reduce the number of vehicles in the CBD.
"This project will make a real difference for locals who will see reduced traffic congestion in the town centre, making it much easier for them to get around," he said.
"That's going to improve liveability and support local businesses, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to targeted infrastructure investment in our regional communities to ensure they continue to be great places to live, work and visit."
