Start of improvements to Access Canberra online services

Canberrans are set to benefit from easier online services, with the ACT Government today announcing it will undertake a redesign of the Fix My Street website, as Access Canberra migrates to a new online platform.

"Over the coming months, Canberrans will start to see improvements to Access Canberra's online services," said Minister for Business and Better Regulation, Tara Cheyne MLA.

"As part of this work, the ACT Government will be redesigning the Fix My Street website. The new website, expected to be launched later this year, will make it easier for Canberrans to use the site to report issues like illegal dumping, damaged footpaths or potholes as well as track progress of existing reports and make follow up enquiries.

Ahead of the Fix My Street redesign, Access Canberra will be migrating to a new online platform. To enable this transition to take place, the Access Canberra website will unavailable from 7.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday 1 May 2021.

"This transition is part of the ACT Government's ongoing work to save you time when you go online, and will support upcoming improvements to Fix My Street later this year.

Critically, this transition will result in the removal of all Access Canberra website accounts from 30 April 2021. These are the accounts that have previously been used to log in to Access Canberra and view user history, such as the status of Fix My Street requests.

Users will no longer be able to access their user history, including any outstanding Fix My Street requests. However, all reports and queries that have been lodged through the current website will still be actioned and existing reports can be followed up by phoning Access Canberra on 13 22 81 and citing their name or email address.

More than 30,000 registered users will be contacted by email today to provide advice and support with the change to service delivery.

Following the transition, users of the Access Canberra website will be able to set up an ACT Digital Account to continue to access services.

"The ACT Digital Account offers easy and convenient access to a growing number of ACT Government services using a single account with the same logon details," said Special Minister of State, Chris Steel MLA.

"Our strong response to COVID-19 demonstrated the value of digital access to services, and I encourage all Canberrans to sign up for an ACT Digital Account if they don't have one.

Once they have set up an ACT Digital Account, Canberrans will be able to lodge requests and track progress of outstanding reports. The ACT Digital Account will enable better, more accurate information about the status of these requests, including notifications.

During the website outage, services and payments such as car registration renewals, driver's licence renewals, infringement payments, rates and land tax and MyWay card top ups can still be accessed. If Canberrans wish to report something that they would normally report via Fix My Street, they can phone Access Canberra on 13 22 81.

We understand that this is a big change. We appreciate your patience as we work through these improvements over the coming months.
