Statement - flight arrivals before 12pm 10 July

Please attribute to a Queensland Health spokesperson:

Queensland Health is reminding airline passengers arriving before midday 10 July that they will not be allowed to leave the airport until COVID-19 travel restrictions have been lifted, as planned. Passengers who are travelling with exemptions will be able to be processed as per normal.

The Queensland Government has contacted each of the airlines to express our concern that hundreds of passengers will be arriving in Queensland ahead of the midday border opening. We are working with the airlines and a number of flights have already been delayed to ensure passengers are not unnecessarily inconvenienced on arrival.

We are proactively seeking to accommodate as many of the passengers as possible by facilitating a holding area where waiting passengers can be made comfortable until they are cleared.

We'd encourage any passengers arriving ahead of midday 10 July to contact their airlines for any updates to travel plans.

From midday Friday 10 July, travellers who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot (currently all are in Victoria) in the last 14 days will be turned away.
