Statement From NSW Police Commissioner, Mal Lanyon APM

On behalf of the NSW Police Force, I note today's inquest findings delivered by State Coroner Teresa O'Sullivan into the tragic events at Westfield Bondi Junction in April 2024.

A comprehensive review of the findings will be undertaken and all recommendations that are directed to police will be considered.

I also wish to thank the coroner for acknowledging what she described as the immense bravery and extraordinary courage of Inspector Amy Scott, as well as members of the public who provided assistance on that day.

I also thank the coroner for her special mention of the work of Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Marks and his team, and the invaluable support and role of the NSW Police Family Liaison Officers.
