Statement From Premier 10 June

Tasmanian Government

I want to acknowledge the service of a colleague who has given so much for her community and both Federal and State Parliaments.

I have known Michelle O'Byrne for over 30 years.

It is not easy in the rough and tumble of politics to always maintain respect and friendship across the political divide, but I am humbled by the fact that Michelle and I have always found a way.

We've always had robust and vigorous discussions within the parliament, given our opposing sides.

I have a deep admiration and respect for someone who holds true to their values.

Michelle can be very proud of what she has achieved over her time in public life, and she leaves Parliament with my personal respect and admiration.

I wish Michelle and her family the very best.

I know Michelle will never be far away from endeavouring to make her community and the world a better place.
