I welcome the release of the independent reviews by Ms Gale and Mr Bugg.
The reviews confirm that all of my official duties, decisions and actions have been undertaken in accordance with appropriate protocols and procedures.
I accept Mr Bugg’s finding in relation to the timing of my disclosure. While I did disclose my relationship to the Premier as soon as I recognised there was an actual conflict, I accept with the benefit of hindsight that I should have recognised a potential for perceived conflict of interest at an earlier time.
I look forward to the challenge of taking on the important portfolios of Resources and Building & Construction and getting on with the job of delivering for Tasmanians.
While I understand the public interest in this matter during the period of these reviews taking place, my relationship is a private and personal matter and I hope that privacy is respected. I do not intend to provide any further public commentary on my relationship.
