Statement From Shadow Minister For Health 21 November

Liberal Party Victoria
Following calls from the Liberals and Nationals, the Allan Labor Government has backflipped on the need for an investigation into shocking healthcare failures that were made public yesterday.

On Sunday, 91-year-old Lois Casboult was denied an ambulance - despite suffering a brain bleed and broken pelvis, she was forced to make her own way to hospital.

Yesterday, the Premier and Minister for Health said there was no need for an investigation or review of this case, saying Mrs Casboult had received "excellent quality care."

Less than 24 hours later, The Allan Labor Government has backflipped and announced there will be a multi-agency review of the case.

Victorians deserve transparency, and the Premier must now clarify:

  • Which agencies will be involved in the review?
  • What is its scope?
  • When will the report be delivered?
  • Will the full report be made public?

This is a shocking example of just how broken Victoria's health system is and how out of touch the Government is with the needs of all Victorians.
