Statement regarding Muirhead sentence

Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath will appeal the sentence handed down to Andrew David Muirhead for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

Mrs D'Ath requested the appeal following further advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Muirhead received a sentence of three-and-a-half years, with a parole eligibility date after one year, for causing Sharon Cuthbert's death.

The Attorney-General said her thoughts were with Sharon's family and friends during this difficult time.
