Stateometer puts Tasmania at top

Peter Gutwein,Treasurer

The latest ANZ Stateometer report again confirms that Tasmania's economy remains in a strong position, growing at above trend for the quarter.

This achievement is a great outcome, with only two jurisdictions in the country being in this position with Tasmania recording the highest index result overall.

The ANZ report highlights Hobart's strong housing market, housing finance growth, and strong growth in building activity around the state as key contributors to the position we are enjoying.

This is on top of Tasmania's nation-leading retail sector, which demonstrates the strong consumer confidence in the state.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is continuing to put the right economic framework in place to encourage job creation and investment, and whilst this is yet another report that confirms our plan is working we know that there is still more to be done.
