We are seeking feedback on the revised National Environmental Standard for Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES).
The standard sets clear rules to:
- protect important environmental areas and species
- support clear and consistent decisions on project.
We have updated the draft based on earlier public feedback. Initial consultation closed on 30 January 2026. This is your chance to have your say before the standard is finalised.
Read the draft and provide your feedback by 11:59 pm AEST 29 May.
We are also revising the standard for Environmental Offsets based on earlier public feedback. This standard will be released for public consultation soon.
Additional standards are in development and will be released for consultation when ready. This includes standards for:
- First Nations engagement
- community engagement
- data and information.
