Stay active but remember current restrictions

While we keep our distance to stop the spread of COVID-19, staying active is critical for both our physical and mental health.

There are many ways you can be active while maintaining physical distance and keeping in line with exercising within 5km of your home and with at most one other person and dependents.

It is important residents keep the 5km rule in mind and avoid travelling further to popular places such as Sumsion Gardens and the Belvoir Park Playground.

Even if Sumsion Gardens is within your 5km radius, it can be difficult to keep physical distance if too many people are visiting and moving around the area.

You can always stay active with a range of activities inside your home.

Physical activity you can do at home includes:

  • weights training - if you don't have any weights, make your own with filled water bottles, cans or jars;
  • yoga;
  • pilates;
  • backyard sports;
  • going up and down stairs;
  • on-the-spot running, star jumps, sit-ups and push-ups;
  • gardening;
  • dancing;
  • virtual fitness classes; and,
  • Zoom or Skype group lounge exercises with your friends.

If you are looking for a change of scenery and it's within your 5km radius, check out Wodonga's bike and walking paths.

The city has more than 80km of bike and walking paths, providing the perfect opportunity to meander by the river or enjoy one of the scenic routes that link the city.

Whether taking a leisurely stroll, going for a jog, getting on your bike, taking the children for a walk or going for a power walk, Wodonga's pathways offer something for everyone.

Check out the Wodonga's pathway booklet. It provides details on key pathway loops within the city of Wodonga.

Wodonga Council's Walk Wodonga booklet shows you the many opportunities where you can exercise in our community.

There is also an array of other trails in and around Wodonga including the High Country Rail Trail map and the Parklands Albury Wodonga map has some useful links to cycling and walking trails.

Our pathways link up with the rail trail, which offers a path along the historic railway line along Lake Hume.
