Stay safe around light rail tram testing

After a few near misses during tram testing on George Street, Transport for NSW is asking motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to keep their heads up and be aware of the new light rail corridor.

People crossing in front of trams or being distracted by mobile phones are particular dangers.

Minister for Transport Andrew Constance said trams are going to be a common sight in the CBD.

"Today's milestone means there will be regular testing on George Street from Town Hall to Circular Quay at night, before daytime testing begins," Mr Constance said.

The CBD and South East Light Rail line from Randwick to Circular Quay opens at the end of 2019.
