Stolen Car Charge, Alderley

North Brisbane police have charged a man following the alleged theft of a utility vehicle in Alderley yesterday morning, 21 July.

Around 2.30am, a 22-year-old male delivery driver was out of his vehicle on Denman Street when he was approached by another man, pushed over and his vehicle stolen.

Within minutes, responding officers intercepted the vehicle on Denman Street.

It is alleged the stolen vehicle struck the rear of the police car in an attempt to flee causing damage, before officers quickly arrested the man.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly located a backpack containing a knife and house breaking implements.

No one was injured during the incident.

A 26-year-old Alderley man has been charged with seven offences including one count each of robbery, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, damaging emergency vehicle when operating motor vehicle, possess instrument of house breaking, possession of knife in a public place and possess utensil for use.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 18 August.
