Stolen car spiked Anzac Highway, South Australia

Two people have been arrested after being caught in a stolen car overnight.

About 1.40pm Thursday 4 February a woman reported to the Holden Hill Police Station that she had been involved in a crash with a white Toyota Prado however the Prado had failed to stop and exchange details with her.

The crash had occurred earlier that day, about 12.30pm at the intersection of Smart Road and North East Road, Modbury. Checks on Prado revealed it had been stolen from Andrews Farm sometime that morning.

Later that night, around 11.55pm the Toyota Prado was spotted travelling through North Adelaide, the car travelled through the CBD south on King William Street before turning west onto Greenhill Road.

Patrols rushed to the area with one crew setting up road spikes on Anzac Highway near Berkley Avenue. The Prado turned onto Anzac Highway and was successfully spiked at this location before coming to a stop about 200m down the road.

Police swooped on the driver, a 15-year-old Andrews Farm boy and passenger, a 25-year-old Salisbury North man and placed them under arrest.

The 15-year-old has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle, unauthorised person to drive a motor vehicle, fail to stop at the scene of a crash and drive without due care and breach of bail. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court today.

The 25-year-old was charged with illegal use and was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 6 May.
