Police can confirm a crocodile located in mangroves at Peakhurst yesterday was one of two stolen from a mobile zoo in March, NSW Police say.
About 5.30pm on Friday 3 March 2017, staff at a mobile zoo on George Crescent, Sandy Point, discovered two crocodiles missing.
The two crocodiles, named "Snap" and "Crackle", were taken from their enclosure, with no signs of forced entry.
Officers from Sutherland Local Area Command commenced an investigation.
About 3pm yesterday (23 April 2017) a man located one of the crocodiles in mangroves at the base of Ogilvy Street, Peakhurst, in the vicinity of Little Salt Pan Creek.
It is unknown at this stage which crocodile it is.
The crocodile was malnourished and below normal temperature, but has been returned to the mobile zoo and is expected to make a full recovery.
Inquiries continue into the theft and anyone with information on the whereabouts of the remaining crocodile are urged to come forward.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
