Stolen goods recovered in Merrylands

Police investigating a robbery in Sydney’s west have charged a man allegedly found with stolen goods overnight, NSW Police say.

Police have been told a man grabbed a handbag from a 38-year-old woman on Brickworks Drive, Merrylands about 7.10pm yesterday.

Police attached to the Holroyd Local Area Command attended and arrested a 36-year-old man nearby on Walpole Street.

The man’s car was searched and police seized mobile phones, jewellery and a wallet alleged to have been stolen.

He was taken to Merrylands Police Station and charged with larceny, damage property and three counts of receive stolen property.

The man was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today.

Inquiries continue into the alleged bag snatch.
