The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating after a vehicle was stolen from a residence in Tennant Creek in the early hours of this morning.
Around 12:20am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a Toyota Yaris had been stolen from a property on Ford Crescent with one occupant inside. It is alleged the vehicle was stationary in the driveway when the driver exited to lock a gate. A male youth allegedly approached and entered the driver's seat, before driving away with a male passenger still inside.
The Yaris was allegedly sighted driving dangerously in town, before stopping to let the passenger out. He was not injured during the incident.
Police received further reports that the stolen vehicle was occupied by additional youths and was again sighted driving dangerously.
Police responded and located the vehicle abandoned near Peko Road shortly before 2am. The alleged offenders remain outstanding.
