Strike Force Charges Two in Coconut Cartel Bust

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have made the first two arrests under a new strike force targeting the self-titled 'Coconut Cartel'.

Strike Force Helston was established by State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad to suppress escalating violence and investigate a series of alleged threats and incidents linked to the syndicate.

About 5am on Wednesday 21 January 2026, emergency services were called to Randolph Street in Guildford following reports of a car fire.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command arrived to find a Toyota SUV alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and there were no reports of injuries.

Cardboard signs referring to the 'Coconut Cartel' were allegedly left on the vehicle.

Local police commenced initial inquiries, before the matter was referred to State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad under Strike Force Helston.

About 6.30pm on Thursday 19 February 2026, strike force detectives - with assistance from Public Order & Riot Squad - executed a search warrant in Daceyville.

During the warrant, police seized a registration plate, jerry can, replica pistol, and 13 mobile phones including a DECCD.

A 24-year-old was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order, firearm etc found at premises-subject to prohibition order, destroy etc property in company use fire etc >$5000, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle).

He was refused bail and appeared in Bail Division Local Court 6 on Friday 20 February 2026, where he was formally refused bail to next appear in Blacktown Local Court today (Thursday 26 February 2026).

About 11am yesterday (Wednesday 25 February 2026), strike force detectives arrested a 19-year-old man in Silverwater.

He was charged with destroy etc property in company use fire etc >$5000 and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The man was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Local Court 6 today.
