Strike Force Seasoned investigators charge man over online threats to harm police horses

A man will appear in court today on telecommunications offences after allegedly making threats online to harm horses from the Mounted Unit.

Strike Force Seasoned was established to investigate persons who committed offences associated with an unauthorised protest and breaches of Public Health Orders.

Earlier this week, investigators were alerted to comments posted on the website of a media outlet, which referenced the protest and outlined threats to harm police horses.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 65-year-old man at Paddington just after midday yesterday (Wednesday 11 August 2021).

A short time later, a search warrant was executed at a nearby home, where police seized electronic devices, a computer and mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination.

The man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with four counts of use carriage service to menace, harass, offend.

He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Thursday 12 August 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Seasoned are continuing.
