Stroud Library, Service Point Hours Cut in Trial

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council will trial reduced hours of operation at the Stroud Customer Service Point and Library.

From 5 January, the service will open from Tuesday to Thursday 9am - 12pm each week for a three-month period.

The aim of the trial is to align opening hours with service usage by the community. Cost savings will be achieved by not opening when there is little use of the facility.

Only 6% of requests for services in the Stroud, Stroud Road and Booral areas were received in person during the year. Data shows that residents chose to phone Council's call centre, make online requests or send emails to report service issues.

It is intended that the trial will help the service operate on a more sustainable basis.

On weekdays when the service is closed, residents can pay their rates at Stroud Post Office.

The decision aligns with Council's plan to achieve long term financial sustainability.

Council will engage with the community during the trial to find out their preferred opening days and times. Residents will also be asked what library services they would like to use.
