Structure Fire - Clarke Street, Araluen

NT Government

Firefighters from the Alice Springs Station arrived to find a house fully engulfed in flames and emitting thick, dark smoke. Crews worked throughout the morning to contain and extinguish the blaze, while preventing it from spreading to multiple vehicles on the property and nearby homes.

NT Police Force and St John Ambulance NT also attended the incident. All residents self-evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators are continuing to work to determine the cause of the fire and expect to have a clearer understanding in the coming days.

"I would like to commend NTFRS crews for carrying out their duties efficiently and methodically to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses," said District Officer, Southern Command, Anthony Blakeley.

"With cooler weather upon us in Central Australia, this is a timely reminder for residents to keep clothes away from heaters, regularly clean lint traps in clothes dryers, and ensure smoke alarms are in good working order."
