Bayside and Caulfield police have been left scratching their heads in disbelief after a motorcycle rider crashed on Brighton Pier this morning, Victoria Police say.
Witnesses have told police a Triumph motorcycle was travelling at approximately 70km/h along the pier about 2.30am.
The rider, a 39-year-old man from Brunswick, lost control of the bike and crashed into a concrete railing.
A witness took the injured rider to a nearby boat and rendered first aid until police came looking for the man.
He was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries and will be interviewed at a later date for traffic offences.
