Sudden death investigation, Hope Island

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man causing a disturbance at a Sanctuary Cove restaurant passed away tonight (February 17).

Early information indicates the man in his 40's, who was highly agitated and aggressive, was restrained by community members prior to police arrival.

Officers responding observed the man was unresponsive, emergency crews could not revive the man and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigations are underway to establish the cause of the man's death.

The matter is being investigated by Queensland Police Ethical Standards Command overviewed by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Investigators urge anyone who observed the incident at the restaurant to contact police.
