Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a woman passed away this evening near Josephine Falls at Bartle Frere, Queensland Police say.
Officers were called to Josephine Falls Road shortly after 5pm following reports that a woman had been washed downstream in flood waters.
Emergency services located her deceased at around 7.25pm in the creek, but due to the deteriorating weather recovery efforts will start at first light.
Police will remain at the scene overnight.
