Sum 41 rock band announce first album for 5 years

- Sum 41 have announced their first album for five years, NME reports.

’13 Voices’ is out on October 7 and follows 2011’s ‘Screaming Bloody Murder’.

It follows singer Deryck Whibley getting sober, after being diagnosed with liver failure following alcohol abuse in 2014.

Whibley said of ’13 Voices’: ""I am really excited to be releasing an album after everything I've been through recently. This new music represents the journey I've been on throughout the process of making this record."

The singer, who was married to Avril Lavigne for four years from 2006, added: "I had to fall in order to rise, and nothing feels better than to have something you love that you had to really fight for. I can honestly say that ’13 Voices’ saved my life and I cannot wait to share it with all of you."

’13 Voices’ marks the return of guitarist Dave Baksh, who rejoined in 2015 after nine years away from Sum 41 to front his own band Brown Brigade.

Sum 41 preview the album with a European tour in August, though there as yet no British dates scheduled.
