Hely Avenue planning proposal

Council resolved to adopt planning proposal LEP21/0003 to amend the Wagga Wagga Local Environmental Plan 2010 and rezone land located at 20 Hely Avenue, Wagga Wagga from SP2 Education to R1 Residential.

This decision comes after Council received a Gateway Determination from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment authorising the planning proposal to proceed after a period of public exhibition.

Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

Council agreed to adopt the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2022 – 2024.

An Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan focuses on developing and strengthening relationships with Wiradjuri/Wiradyuri and First Nations peoples, engaging staff and stakeholders in reconciliation, and developing and piloting innovative strategies to empower Wiradjuri/Wiradyuri and First Nations peoples.

The four key areas for Council's Innovate Reconciliation Action plan 2022 – 2024 are:

1. Relationships

2. Respect

3. Opportunities

4. Governance.

The Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan was developed after extensive consultation and engagement, and a month-long public exhibition period.

Local government elections

Council agreed to engage the NSW Electoral Commission to administer its elections, polls and referenda for the September 2024 local government elections.

RP-3 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS - SEPTEMBER 2024

Airport fees and charges

Council agreed to place the draft 2023/24 Airport Fees and Charges on public exhibition from 14 February 2023 to 14 March 2023 and invite public submissions during this period.

Council also noted that due to the airport passenger charge base rate fee being frozen for the past five financial years, each future financial year increase will be set at a minimum $2.00 GST exclusive amount, which will assist in the financial sustainability of the Wagga Wagga Airport into the future.

Australian Local Government Women's Association Conference

Council agreed to appoint Deputy Mayor Councillor Jenny McKinnon and Councillor Amelia Parkins to represent Wagga Wagga City Council at the Annual Australian Local Government Women's Association Conference at Cape Schanck from 17 to 20 May 2023.

The annual conference brings councillors and officers together from across Australia to advance female participation in local government and put a spotlight on issues facing women in the sector.

Council has participated in the annual Australian Local Government Women's Association Conference since 2008. This year's theme is 'Connect. Inspire. Thrive.'

RP-5 2023 AUSTRALIAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Real estate agency services

Council agreed to decline all tenders and enter into negotiations with any person with the intention of entering into a contract for the provision of real estate agency services for the Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics hub and the adjoining Special Activation Precinct lands at Bomen.

Council will receive a report once negotiations are finalised.

Request for part road closure at rear of Erin Street

Council received requests from two landowners in Erin Street, Turvey Park to consider selling part of the road reserve at the rear of their properties.

Councillors agreed to decline the request.

Lease of 99 Peter Street

Council agreed to accept the offer from the NSW Service for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) to lease the premises at 99 Peter Street for a period of three years, with conditions.
