Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage after $85,000 worth of sunglasses and prescription glasses were stolen from an optometrist in Footscray in the early hours of Monday morning, Victoria Police say.
It is believed up to three men attended the Hopkins Street optometrist and parked a dark-coloured utility outside the store about 4.50am.
Investigators believe the vehicle was parked stationary for approximately two minutes before it reversed over a bus stop sign and into the store window.
One of the men then entered the store and removed three cabinets containing sunglasses and prescription glasses worth $85,000.
The offenders then jumped back into the vehicle and drove off along Hopkins Street and into Leeds Street.
Police have released the below still image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
All of the offenders are perceived to be Caucasian and were wearing dark-coloured clothing.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
