Support Act Wellbeing Helpline available

Charity organisation Support Act has expanded its Wellbeing Helpline services to any artist or arts worker across Australia who needs support during this difficult time.

After receiving $10 million funding from the Australian Government through the Office for the Arts, Support Act is able to offer its Wellbeing Helpline services beyond the music and theatre industries to the broader arts sector.

The funding is part of a targeted $27 million government support package for the arts.

Support Act CEO Clive Miller said any music or arts worker concerned about their mental health is able to call the Helpline.

'COVID-19 is clearly having a huge impact on the mental health and wellbeing of people across the entire arts sector, with many people struggling as a result of financial hardship, concern about careers, being cut off from social networks and working from home,' Clive said.

'Our clinicians can provide support in all these areas and more.'

The Helpline is a free confidential service available 24/7, staffed by professional clinicians familiar with issues faced by people working in music and the arts. It can be accessed by calling 1800 959 500 or via email. Zoom video calls are also available.
