Supporting North Launceston Football Club Sustainably

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government is supporting the future of the North Launceston Football Club with funding to design new club rooms at the Inveresk precinct.

For the past 18 months, the Tasmanian Government has worked with the North Launceston Football club as it considers future options for facilities at Inveresk.

Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said the club presented its proposal to the Government following consideration at its Annual General Meeting.

"The Club asked for time to reach a position on its future and we worked closely with them following the decision in December," Minister Duigan said.

"I have responded to the Club President, confirming the Government will make up to $100,000 available for scoping and design work for their club rooms and function centre within the Inveresk precinct.

"This work will be developed in conjunction with the NTFA, City of Launceston, AFL Tasmania and Stadiums Tasmania, building on the efforts of the working group over the past 18 months.

"The Government will continue working closely with the North Launceston Football club and AFL Tasmania on the plans and next steps.

"We remain committed to working with all parties. We look forward to continued cooperation among stakeholders to achieve an outcome that works for all parties, and in particular, supports the sustainability of the NLFC."
