The Surf Coast Arts Trail will be back to celebrate its 10th Anniversary from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 August 2021 after COVID-19 stopped more than 6000 visitors from exploring the 70+ studios in 2020.

"We're incredibly proud of how our region's artists adapted during the virtual Arts Trail in 2020, but nothing beats being able to meet artists in person and hear their stories and see their work in real life," said Cr Mike Bodsworth.

The easing of COVID-19 restrictions will allow us to meet artists at work from the coast to the hinterland and will kick off with a special 10th Anniversary launch event on Friday 6 August from 5.30pm – 7pm at a yet-to-be-disclosed location.

"The launch event will showcase the way artists in all mediums have thrown off the shackles of successive lockdowns to collaborate and create works for their community, before leading into the weekend to showcase the individual artists that call the Surf Coast Shire home," said Cr Bodsworth.

As is the Arts Trail tradition, there will also be venues dotted around the Shire where artists who don't have home studios will be on hand to talk visitors through their artistic process, in the presence of their work.

"All visual arts disciplines will be on show and I look forward to catching up with our talented artists over the weekend," said Cr Bodsworth.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Trail and the artists that call Surf Coast Shire home, there are two new, exciting components to this year's Trail:

  • Outdoor Exhibition - Paste Ups Portraits Venues across the shire will celebrate just some of our region's artists in a Paste Up Portraits exhibition by Torquay photographer Daniela Rodriguez from August 1-22
  • Arts Trail Exhibition – SCAS@TheMAC Bringing the work of *most* of the Trails artists under the one roof, join Surf Coast Arts Inc in conjunction with Council for the Arts Trail Exhibition from August 7 – 22
