Surface Upgrade For Eastern Reserve Oval

Colac's Eastern Reserve oval will close for an upgrade over coming months as Colac Otway Shire Council works to enhance the playing surface.

Council's contractors will top-dress and level the surface of the oval, which is home to the Colac Braves Baseball Club and City United Cricket Club.

Eastern Reserve has long experienced issues with subsidence and an uneven playing surface, and the work will ensure the oval remains safe and easier to maintain for both cricket and baseball.

Initial works will start in September, with most groundworks occurring when the weather is optimal.

The reserve is also a popular spot for passive recreation, including people walking dogs. The oval will not be accessible to the public during the work.

Temporary fencing will restrict access until mid-January 2026. There will also be fencing between the netball courts and the cricket nets for about three weeks to make a compound for the contractor. Fencing near the clubrooms will also limit access to the road to the contractor's compound.

The public toilets at the reserve will remain accessible to the public.

Council has been working closely with the sports clubs regarding the oval improvement project who have made temporary arrangements to use other facilities during the work.

Council appreciates the community's patience while we complete this important work.
