Surry Hills RES arrest eight, seize 3kg MDMA, NSW

Eight people have been arrested and 3kg of MDMA seized when four search warrants were executed in Sydney yesterday, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Teribah was established in April 2016 to investigate the distribution of prohibited drugs.

Following extensive investigations, strike force investigators attached to Surry Hills Region Enforcement Squad (RES), assisted by police from Central Metropolitan Region, Tactical Operations Unit, and the Dog Unit, executed four search warrants at homes in Smithfield, Mount Pritchard, Newtown, and a unit in Lane Cove West about 12.30pm today.

During the searches, police seized 3kg of MDMA powder and 280g of cocaine. The drugs have a combined estimated potential street value of about $1 million.

Drug paraphernalia and $6500 cash was seized.

Eight people were arrested during the operation, including two men – aged 20 and 24 – and a 19-year-old woman at a home in Hinchinbrook.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at a cafe in Bonnyrigg.

They were all taken to Green Valley Police Station.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at Sydney Domestic Airport and taken to Mascot Police Station.

A second 24-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were arrested in Newtown and were taken to Newtown Police Station.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at a unit in Lane Cove West and taken to Chatswood Police Station.

The 20-year-old man was charged with seven offences including supply large commercial quantity of drugs and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow.

The 24-year-old man was charged with participate in criminal group. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 8 June 2017.

The 19-year-old woman was charged with seven offences including supply large commercial quantity of drugs and participate in criminal group.

She was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow.

The 20-year-old arrested at the cafe in Bonnyrigg was charged with six offences including supply large commercial quantity of drugs and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow.

The 21-year-old man was charged with four offences including supply large commercial quantity of drugs and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court tomorrow.

The 24-year-old man arrested in Newtown was charged with eight offences including supply commercial quantity of prohibited drug and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court tomorrow.

The 32-year-old man was charged with three offences including supply indictable quantity of prohibited drug possess prohibited drug (x2).

He was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court tomorrow.

The 19-year-old man arrested in Lane Cove West was charged with eleven offences including supply large commercial quantity of drugs and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court tomorrow.

Investigations under Strike Force Teribah are continuing.
